What You Need to Know About Using a Library Computer

Computer use applies to internet/word processing computers. An initial internet use agreement form is needed to use the computers. Minors must have a parent or legal guardian sign a minor user agreement form.

No library card? No problem. You'll just need to fill out the internet use agreement form.

An adult must sign a Yakima Valley Regional Library Internet Use Agreement for adults, (Spanish Internet Use Agreement for adults), indicating they have read this Internet Policyand agree to abide by it and any future version of the Policy as a condition of using the Regional Library's Internet access.

A minor's parent or legal guardian must sign a Yakima Valley Regional Library Internet Use Agreement for minors, ( Spanish Internet Use Agreement for minors) indicating they have read this Internet Policy and agree that the minor may use the Regional Library's Internet access and that the minor will abide by the Internet Policy and any future version of the Policy as a condition of the minor using the Regional Library's Internet access, and elect filtered or unfiltered access for the minor. Scheduling a computer session

At the Downtown Yakima Library, Summitview Library and White Swan Library you can schedule an hour computer session with "Prebook", a computer scheduling software. Other community libraries will be using this software in the future.

Your library card is required for computer use at the Downtown Yakima, Summitview and White Swan Library. Adults use their library card to schedule a computer session and to login to the computer station. Adults will agree to abide by the rules in YVRL’s Internet Use Agreement when they login.

Minors use their library card to schedule a computer session and to login to the computer station. In addition to their library card, a minor’s parent or legal guardian must sign a Yakima Valley Regional Library Use Agreement indicating that the minor has permission to use the Internet. The parent/guardian will also indicate the level of access they would like for their child, filtered or unfiltered. When logging onto the library computer, the minor's card will allow either filtered or unfiltered access according to what was chosen by the parent/guardian.

Computers can be scheduled from a computer within the library or through the library’s web site www.yvrl.org.
