The local garden club started the Selah City Library in the storeroom of Sudnmeir's Hardware in 1934. In 1962, the citizens of Selah approved a bond issue to construct a library in what were previously fire truck bays in the old Selah fire station. The City of Selah contracted with the Yakima Valley Regional Library in 1977 to provide library service. In March, 2005, Selah residents voted to formally annex into the Regional Library system (now Yakima Valley Libraries). In October, 2010, the Selah Library moved into a newly renovated 4,830 square foot building with its own parking at 106 South 2nd Street. Check out the book The Selah Story: History of the Selah, East Selah and Wenas Valley in Yakima County, Washington by Robert S. Lince for the early history of the library and Selah.
